I’m unsure of how I should feel,
How attached I should be,
And what you think of me.
The confusion of seeing a face,
When it’s filling the space,
I think my face should be.
Waves crashing,
Anger rising,
Not knowing what’s sitting on every horizon,
Star shine, I see your face,
Your endless motion,
Your endless grace.
And I feel him,
Looking on,
Standing and judging and misunderstanding,
Half stories,
If he only knew,
If you only knew,
If you only knew.
Just like the cigarette,
You threw away,
I’ll wait here,
Until the rainfall,
Until I no longer fill your lungs,
And you feel you can breathe without me.
And like the drink,
That blurs your judgement,
I’m the fix that you can’t get over,
I’m the blur of misted glasses,
But I’ll still be here when the fading passes.
So pick me up, and drop me,
But don’t expect I’ll be here when you change your mind.
Then in the clearest vision of day,
I promise we’ll be okay,
It’s never perfect,
But we’ll work with what we have.
So come with me,
And we can be damaged together,
We’ll be damaged forever.
I’m unsure of how I should feel,
How attached I should be,
And what you think of me.
The confusion of seeing a face,
When it’s filling the space,
I think my face should be.
